Alpha Housing (Northern Ireland) Ltd, (Alpha), was established on 1 July 2009

Alpha Housing (Northern Ireland) Ltd, (Alpha), was established on 1 July 2009 through the merger of Abode and Presbyterian Housing Associations. It has a stock of almost 1000 homes, most of which are for older tenants. The Association has schemes in Ballycastle, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Belfast, Bangor, Carrickfergus, Comber, Crumlin, Dunmurry, Killyleagh, Maghera, Moira, Millisle, Newtownabbey, Portadown, Portstewart, Richhill and Newry.

Alpha wishes to build on the success of the Abode and Presbyterian Housing Associations, and a Business Plan has been prepared to demonstrate that Alpha is a viable, well governed and well managed organisation committed to the provision of good quality homes and services for all its tenants.

The agreed core values of Alpha are:

Integrity: Board and staff will at all times act with probity in mind, with transparency, honesty, respect, fairness and confidentiality and in accordance with the values and ethos of the Association. Information will be made publicly available unless there are justifiable reasons for withholding it.
Customer Care: Alpha is a tenant focussed organisation putting our customers at the core of all we do.
Value: Alpha ensures value by delivering services that are cost effective and affordable.
Equality: Alpha has a culture of equality of opportunity and treats everyone with respect, sensitivity and dignity.
Accountability: Alpha will be properly accountable to all its stakeholders. An annual report on activities and performance will be produced and made available to members, tenants, and anyone requesting a copy
Audit: Alpha has in place effective systems for internal and external audit
Good Governance: The respective roles of Board members and staff are clearly documented and delegation arrangements are clearly set out.
Prudence: Alpha will provide services that are efficient, competitive and good value for money while providing for current needs without jeopardising future provision.
Commitment: The Association exists to serve its tenants, to meet community need and to satisfy its stakeholders.

Alpha aims to be A Leading Provider of Housing Accommodation:

By maintaining and managing its property to the highest standard;
By fostering and building active communities within its schemes

Alpha’s agreed Mission statement is:

“To provide affordable, good quality sustainable housing, mainly for older people and those requiring support.”

In fulfilling this mission, the Association will seek to:

  • Put the interests of tenants at the heart of all its actions and involve them through the Tenants’ Forum.
  • Provide good quality, well managed and maintained homes that meet the needs of the tenants.
